BRE is a profit-for-purpose organisation. Profits from BRE are gift-aided to the BRE Trust, a registered charity which invests in research for public benefit.

The BRE Trust enables

The BRE Trust enables BRE to partner with universities and others to conduct research into challenges in the built environment. Published project findings act as authoritative guidance to the construction industry.

 

We fund industry-leading research

Since its foundation in 1997, the BRE Trust has funded more than £20m of research and published over 300 new or updated titles.The Trust's research has been shared in over 3,000 peer-reviewed papers, conferences and books. Its findings are highly respected and used in policy-making, building design, product development, education and more.

 

Enabling a safer, greener built environment

The BRE Trust owns BRE, which uses its profit to make the built environment safer and more sustainable through its research, testing, and influencing policy makers. Through its activities, the BRE Trust aims to achieve:

  • A higher quality built environment

  • Built facilities that offer better functionality and value for money

  • A more efficient and sustainable construction sector with a higher level of innovative practice.
