There is a lot of data that BRE collects and not all of it is utilised properly. Access to data and information for things like programmes for computer software is key as building information modelling (BIM) and new technology comes into play and the ‘Internet of Things’ becomes more prevalent, the access to this data and information is key as its feeds into sensors and other things like programmes for computer software.

BRE Datalabs is a BRE Trust-funded initiative to explore and test the potential for unlocking and exploiting the rich data BRE holds on buildings, certifications and testing, and how best to publish and serve this data for use through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and data sharing platforms.
